Thanks to your support, we raised over $25,000 to support FIERCE in building the leadership and power of LGBTQ youth of color in NYC.

Halloween Party 2009

On Friday, October 30, 2009, FIERCE held its annual Halloween Party.  The party, held at Judson Memorial Church, was FIERCE's biggest base-building event of the year.  Over 150 LGBTQ youth of color from across the city came out to support this event, meet other LGBTQ youth, learn more about FIERCE and dance the night away.

Thanks to all the LGBTQ youth who made this party such a huge success.  A special thanks to Judson Memorial Church for donating their space and to DJ Bonnie Danger for providing the tunes.

We hope you enjoy these snapshots from the event.   To view the full photo gallery, visit our Flickr account.

Global Warming Ball

On September 19, 2009, FIERCE, Friends of Hudson River Park and the Kiki Coalition organized a historic Ball for LGBTQ youth on Pier 46 in the West Village.  The Global Warming Ball was a huge success, drawing over 600 LGBTQ youth and featuring performances by Vogue Evolution.

The youth-led event also marked a major victory in FIERCE’s Safe Space Saves Lives Campaign to ensure that the needs of LGBTQ youth of color are not forgotten in the wake of developments along the West Village Waterfront.

A special thanks to the Friends of Hudson River Park and members of the Kiki Coalition—The Hetrick-Martin Institute, Gay Men's Health Crisis, HEAT, The Door, FACES and OutSpoken—for partnering with us on this event and to the performers, DJ, and hundreds of youth who helped make the event a huge success for our community.

FIERCE Friday Forum with District 3 Candidates

On Friday, August 28, FIERCE hosted a first-of-its-kind forum for District 3 City Council Candidates to address concerns of LGBTQ youth. The forum was a great opportunity for candidates to meet and hear directly from FIERCE members and other LGBTQ youth of color, and for our community to hear directly from candidates about their plans to work on issues facing LGBTQ youth in the West Village and citywide.

Many thanks to Yetta Kurland and Maria Passannante-Derr for participating in this important dialogue and to all the FIERCE members, alumni and friends who turned out for the event.
