FIERCE Prepares for 2009!

Hey folks it’s time for another update…
Campaign Steering Committee or (CSC), Team leaders Paul and Emerson recently facilitated their second CSC Team meetings on Thursday, November 20th at FIERCE. The meeting was a massive success. Topics included: orientation to the CSC team, team structure and planning a very fab-u-lous CSC Team Bonding and Planning day among the entire team….in the words of the famous Ballroom Scene Community, “girl it was a kiki…”

CSC Team, media scheme…
On Wednesday, November 26th Paul and Emerson had a luscious, over the phone interview with the Brooklyn Rail. He wanted to know the “tee” on the fiercest dynamic duo FIERCE has ever encountered and find the scoop on why we organize as well as other LGBTQ youth of color. Emerson and Paul tagged teamed and gave Luke exactly what he wanted. CSC…The future waits…
In the up and coming year FIERCE is working to create a 2009 political platform. We recently had a Right to the City Meeting Training on December 5th , facilitated our marvelous Yasmeen Perez and Mr. John Blasco. “kiki John” The meeting concluded with city demands for our up-coming elected officials.

Featured demands included: A right to: an economy that serves our needs, safe public space, jobs without discrimination, affordable housing, affordable healthy food, more LGBTQ shelters/ safe spaces, free health care, free child care, a safe West Village with no police harassment, rights to every part of the city, and more involvement in community decision-making …you see? Simple things…
